We recently posted a message in the church bulletin to the effect that members of the congregation who had cell phones that were no longer needed and who wanted to have them recycled could send them along to us and we would look after the details of recycling and directing the funds raised to the church. The service we were thinking of, ecophones.com, appears to be international in scope, but upon inquiring further we found out that it was only viable to United States residents due to high shipping and customs charges between our countries. We do at this time have a few cell phones in our possession from unknown donors in the church. We have not turned those over to any recycling service as yet and we continue to research other options for recycling within Canada.
If the persons who turned the phones over to us, knowing now that the phones are unlikely to realize any returns for us, would like them back please let us know. In the meantime we will probably eventually turn them over to some other local recycling charity.
