Web Design

It was brought to my attention by the former rector this past spring that the web page for St. Alban's Church was becoming outdated due to the fact that Melanie was at University and no longer able to continue to maintain the site. Since then, with Rev. Newhook's and Melanie's permission, I have endeavoured to update those parts of the page that I was told needed updating. It is not easy, however, to keep abreast of developments in both churches and to provide information and images when I generally do not attend St. Alban's.

I have also started up a new Parish page to embrace both churches.

Rev. Newhook mentioned to me before he left that they were looking for a student to resume responsibility for maintaining the St. Alban's Church site. If you have some skill in Web Page Design and would like to resume responsiblity for St. Alban's site or if you know of someone who is skilled and might be interested I would appreciate it if you would please email me (Arch).

Perhaps you are not into Web Page Design but you would like to contribute to the web pages in other ways. One way is to let me know what needs to be added, deleted, or edited that is already on the site. Another is to bring along your camera for important church events and to pass along your pictures and I will publish them to the site. It is not necessary that they be digital images, but of course, if you have a digital camera and can email me your digital images that will save some time. If not, I can easily scan prints on paper and quickly return them to you. You can pass along any such prints to Rev. Harris and he will give them to me when he comes down to St. Andrew's.

If you have a computer and Internet access and are interested in web page design I would strongly encourage you to give it a try. It can be a bit tedious and time consuming but need not be very difficult. It is a wonderful hobby. There are many ways in which God can use you to reach out to a needy world through the medium of the Internet.

Some useful sites that introduce web page design are listed on this page.

I recommend the use of an HTML editor, a program not unlike the program that you use for emails or for typing documents. It will look a bit daunting at first, but once you get used to typing into it it and viewing your documents, it will save you a lot of time typing. You can download a great free sample editor (actually the one that I use all the time) from this FTP site
. Again please let me know what you think.
